Meaning “little butterflies,” Farfalline pasta is a type of pasta that comes from Northern Italy and gets its name from the rectangular shape and scalloped edges that are pinched together in the centre, creating a butterfly-like look. Their tiny size and unique design make them appealing to children. Because of the notched edges and the little curves of the wings, they are well-suited for thick soups, creamy sauces or velvety soups with veggies and croutons.
